Topic 3: Apply Properties: Multiplication Facts for 3, 4, 6, 8
In this Topic, students will begin multiplying by 3,4,6, and 8
Essential Question: How can unknown multiplication facts be found using known facts?
Vocabulary:
1. multiples- are the products of a number and other whole numbers (example: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8... are multiples of 2)
2. Distribuitive Property of multiplication- a multiplucation fact can be broken apaprt into the sum of two other multiplication facts(example: 6 x 7 = ( 3x7) + (3x7) or 6x7= (5x6) + (2x7)
3. Asociative property of multiplication- you can change the grouping of the factors and the product will be the same.
4. Product- the answer of a multiplication equation.
